Summer
8/6/2022
The flowers are now leaves
That glisten in the burning sun
The leaves promise to last forever
And pink petals litter the ground
In the blazing Summer
The leaves collect the light from the sun
In order to keep the Tree alive
The sun's bright rays alight the Earth
The Tree feeds on the radiance of the world
Growing stronger, in order to face the night
The wind slows in the blistering heat
As the Earth grows warmer
And the air becomes dryer
The Tree feels the beginning of something new
Something dangerous
These leaves, a catalyst
For something far greater
The Tree finds heat in its memories
In its shadows
It finds, on the ground, its old companion
Who calls out to the Tree
But the Tree has been changed
By the storming winds
Instead of answering
It gathers the heat from its darkness
It hoards the rays from the sun
And sets fire to its leaves
The leaves are gone
The snow froze its heart
The rain helped it grow
And the Sun was the key
To a brighter future
And a stronger Tree
A Tree that can harness its memories
Instead of hide inside them
The winds of change are storming
And the Tree is ready to face the end of Summer
As Autumn comes our way
