Winter

The snow settles on the ground

And the Tree catches the flakes

It is now the Tree knows

Losing its leaves was for the better

Winter is coming

The snow settles on the branches

Providing company for the lonely Tree

Despite the bitter cold

The Tree likes its new, frozen friends

Thousands of tiny snowflakes

To brace against the wind

​

Perhaps these cool companions

Aren't what they seem

In the end,

Will they be a facade too,

Just like the Autumn leaves?

Doesn't all snow melt?

The Tree has companions now

To help fight the cold

The snowflakes are here for now

Resting in the sea of change

Whether the snowflakes care for the tree,

Only time will tell

The leaves are gone

But is that such a bad thing?

The winds of change still howl through the night
