Dawn

The universe tells me

That I don't need someone to be happy,

To be fulfilled

Yet everyday I don't have someone

I feel this pain growing deep inside

As I continue to climb

The one shining star fades

As the sun begins to rise

The mound of sand glows pink

In the newfound light

I feel my strength flicker,

As I threaten to fall back down

The sand gives way

And I lose my grip

No

The shining star of hope

May be gone

But now I have something bigger

The sun's shining face eggs me on

And I know

That as long as the sun still shines

I will never be alone
